Naryn State Reserve is located 50 km east of Naryn on the left bank of the river. The main objects of protection in the reserve are the Shrenka spruce and the maral population.
The reserve was established in 1983, its area is 36969 hectares. In addition to the already mentioned representatives of flora and fauna, 20 species of mammals, over 100 species of birds and about 500 plant species are protected here. In addition to the deer, they live here: snow leopard, lynx, bear, argali and predatory rare birds. Of the species listed in the Red Book of the Kyrgyz Republic, the reserve has 5 species of mammals, 6 species of birds, 10 species of insects. In the reserve there is a maral nursery, which is formed to restore the population of maral and to organize in the future a pantry farm.
